So, you are interested in back hair removal? Most people who have hair on their backs are bothered by it, but they often find it very painful and difficult to remove. If you do not have someone to help you, you will need a long self-applicator, a hair wax, or sugaring compound. Some people use special grip sticks to hold the applicator, but some use implements like chopsticks. Use the applicator to apply a thin layer of the wax over the hair, apply a strip if needed, then pull the wax up in the opposite direction of hair growth. There will be some minor pain and discomfort involved, but you will have the advantage of smooth, hair-free skin for weeks with this method. You will also find that the more you treat your back with wax to remove hair, the less painful each subsequent treatment will be.
Before you begin, make sure that the wax or sugar compound is pliant. Most waxes need to be microwaved 15 to 20 seconds to make them pliant enough to spread. If after the first heat, it is not sufficiently thin enough, heat in increments of ten seconds until the proper consistency. Stir the wax with the applicator and allow it to cool until it will not burn the skin when applied, but is still thin and warm enough to spread easily.
If using a reusable paste-type wax, the wax should be pliant enough that you can pull a small mass of it up with either your fingers or an applicator stick. If using a stick, you will likely use much less than you would if applying with your fingers. You should dip in the stick and pull up enough that it forms a small ball at the end of the stick.
Work as quickly as possible, dipping the applicator into the wax until you have a small amount covering the end. Apply it in the direction of the hair growth, never against. Most back hair grows downward, so apply the wax in this direction. If using cloth strips, apply it over the wax and press down. Grab either the cooled wax or the strip and pull upward against the way of hair growth. Do this quickly to maximize hair removal and minimize discomfort. Repeat the steps in this paragraph until hair removal is complete.
If you are using a reusable paste-type wax, you can ball the wax up, after you have used it. While it is still pliant, continue to reuse it repeatedly to remove your back hair – simply put the ball on it back at the end of your applicator stick and continue applying in the direction of hair growth. You should note that a reusable paste-type wax does not a strip, which can be applied with either an applicator or the fingers.
The paste will continue to work even though it has picked up hairs, and while it may seem gross, it can be reused repeatedly. Not only will it save you time with having to dip the applicator each time, you will save money by being able to reuse the same bit of wax to remove hair from a single area.
Tips to remember
If you would like to get rid of hair you have on your buttocks, it can be painful. Dust some cornstarch or cornstarch baby powder over the skin, before starting so that the wax will adhere only to the hair and not the skin.
If you are attempting to wax your pubic region, you will need to apply oil to the skin first in order to soften it. Allow it to soak in, and then apply cornstarch or cornstarch baby powder to the skin. Back hair removal can still be painful, but this should help reduce some of the discomfort.
