Is scar away effective? Does it really work?

“Many of the reviews I read about Scar away weren’t helpful to me because the reviewers admitted they didn’t use the product the recommended time to see if they’d get results. I was in my mid-50s and wanted to get rid of a raised two-year-old scar. I used ScarAway sheets for two months, and the product seemed to help. I continued to use them for two more weeks, and I can tell that the scar shrank to a noticeable degree. The scar tissue is also softer, and it is not as noticeable. If you are not a patient person, you probably should not use this product. The results are NOT immediate. Over the past month of using the silicone sheets, when I did not have the scar covered, I also used Mederma scar cream and I believe that helped as well. I noticed some people say the patches would not stay on. I used a band-aid to help keep the patches on. It worked well.”

“I used this product for a few weeks on some really old scars, as well as a new six-week-old surgical scar. All of my scars (even the new one) were puffy and red, even purple. Now the color is almost gone, and they are really smooth and flat. My only gripe with ScarAway is that the adhesive used on the sheets only lasts three or four days, despite that you are supposed to use each strip for a week. Aside from that, though, it’s a wonderful product.”

“I want to say up front that I am a real customer and not a paid spokesperson (I have seen people assume that reviewers who rate this product with four or five stars are paid employees). I have used ScarAway sheets as directed on a consistent basis for six weeks. I have noticed a real difference in the way my four-year-old scar looks. It is no longer as raised, the texture is softer, and the color is fading fast. If you want to know if this product truly works, I can tell you from personal experience that it does! However, I want to tell anyone thinking of using it that you must use the product consistently as directed, and you cannot expect quick results.

It took me four weeks of constant use to notice any difference at all. I am going to keep using the sheets for eight to twelve more weeks as directed. Since other people have mentioned it, I want to say the adhesive worked okay for me. After a few days, the sides begin to curl up a bit, but I pressed them down whenever I noticed it and they still stuck. People should also remember that no product works for everybody, but this is very cheap (especially compared to laser removal and surgery!) and it’s worth trying.”

“Three years ago I had surgery to reduce the size of my breasts, and I ended up with surgical scars. I began using vitamin E soon after surgery, but after the surgical wounds healed, the cut skin became a dark color. I bought my ScarAway strips a couple of months ago and have used them as much as I could (they are expensive for a poor college student to use with complete consistency!). I have to say I feel like I have gotten some results even with the inconsistent use. The scars are much lighter and they look like they are starting to shrink. As soon as I can, I am going to buy more so I can use them with regularity. I am happy with ScarAway and expect to see more results over time. If you wonder why I am rating 4 stars, it’s because I didn’t get to employ it for the suggested time. After I do, the rating may go up! Also, want to say, about the strips staying on, I did not experience this problem. I would put them on after getting out of the shower and did not put any lotion on my skin. I have dry skin, so that may have helped them stick. If your skin is oily or you sweat a lot, that may cause them not to stick as well.”
